We don’t stray away from Russiagate for much, but on a historic night, there are a few thoughts percolating among the sleuths.
The Weaponization Committee was supposed to be a new Church Committee. If we have been successful at anything, it’s showing that oversight is desperately needed. Weaponization has been a punchline for Republican fundraising and nothing more.
There are numerous questions on Russiagate that demand answers. We desperately need someone willing to issue subpoenas and get testimony on the record, because there are strong indications of wrongdoing that have not been resolved.
There are questions on warrantless data harvesting and surveillance. Companies are working hand in glove with the government and handing over customer data while other government agents with massive federal contracts surreptitiously harvest data from unwitting consumers and sell it to the government. Why do we even need FISA? It’s being circumvented. The government is spying on anyone it wants to.
The Department of Defense has an unexplained role in criminal investigations. And why are private researchers working at the tasking of the Department of Justice?
Here’s hoping the next Speaker has a strong oversight agenda. Not to mention there is a need for a comprehensive data privacy law.
If we’re lucky, someone like Devin Nunes will be lured back to get things moving.
~ agreed, NUNES would be great, Zeldin's name has been thrown out there, as well as Trump. The fact that the rinos are running away for a week instead of continuing investigations, hearings, & especially aprops bills. But they are giving a week to let the dems/msm play up the "chaos" card. But they are the principled ones? Word going around now is that McCarthy was slow walking the subpeonas. ~
Gaetz and crew are Froggomg idiots, tearing down a man who has managed to establish a bulwark against the Antichrist'ss worst impulses, without a replacement.
