Today, we filed another lawsuit. This time, against the FBI and Department of Defense for a number of FOIA’s. As I said before, there will be additional lawsuits against both government agencies and private actors and we are going to be aggressive in going after documents.
I believe we’ve reached a stage where we have a nice playbook put together, and we’re going to make the most of it.
The first FOIA on this lawsuit is to DARPA (DOD):
This is the one that came back partially processed a couple weeks ago, with 5 calendar entries indicating ‘CIA meeting’ and redacting everything else citing a personal privacy exemption.
The thing is, I have dozens of pages that are responsive to this request from my Open Records requests at Georgia Tech. That’s where I learned about Schneck in the first place. They should’ve been reproduced as responsive to this.
I don’t know what will come of this FOIA, but Schneck is an interesting guy who was also working at US CyberCommand. I need to review it, but I’ve heard that Admiral Rogers (who people forget also was the head of CyberCom) had stated in May 2017 testimony that CyberCommand had observed some evidence of the GRU as they hacked the DNC. I’m not sure if there is a tie-in to Schneck with that, but we’re going to see how far down the rabbit hole this goes.
The next FOIA was also to DARPA:
These are a series of companies with ties to Rodney Joffe, Raymond Saulino, and/or April Lorenzen and a couple others. I’m just curious what pops up on this one.
Next FOIA is also to DARPA:
Also to DARPA:
Last one to DARPA, just a broad request. I was a little surprised this one didn’t come back as “no records found” - the easiest explanation is that there are emails between her and Keromytis and probably no one else on this request. We’ll see:
And here is the first FOIA to the FBI subject to this lawsuit:
And another to the FBI. We’ll see if the communications we heard about at the Sussmann trial went through Grasso’s FBI account.
Finally on this lawsuit, we’re back to looking for contracts with Joffe related entities.
Given the time that elapses, sometimes you learn more (like we did during the Sussmann trial) that might’ve changed your requests up a bit. These aren’t too bad though, the FBI FOIA’s were put in just after the trial.
I am going to continue looking hard at DARPA, and I need to take a closer look at CyberCommand, DHS & get deeper into the CIA/NSA. I believe you’re not a true FOIA guy until you sue the Central Intelligence Agency for documents, we’ll see what shakes loose there.
We’re going to get this figured out. I know there are others filing lawsuits and FOIA’s, and I suspect that a year from now we might have 90% of the answers. Hopefully the GOP will be game to throw down some subpoenas as well if they take control of Congress.
More to come.
Have a good weekend!
Can you email, I need help with a G Tech FOIA. I know you posted the originial FOIA email from manos or dagon on twitter and I cant seem to find it. It was about Manos/Dagon and their trip to Ukraine and London. G tech came back no responsive records. I have other Open records that i will happily send you as well. TheFountainThread@gmail.com
Thanks so much, super interested to know if Admiral Rogers's statement about "observing" GRU "hack" the DNC, if that came from the Sussmann/GPS crowd, or if that was based on actual hard evidence and validated intelligence?
