We have talked a lot about the hack of the DNC, which I can only conclude was a false flag operation based on a mountain of evidence that suggests malfeasance inside our government, the involvement of some of the same people implicated in the Alfa Bank matters, sources who have come to sleuths stating that Rodney Joffe was the one who traced the hack of the DNC to Russia….and more. We talked about that here and here.
It’s no coincidence that the supposed “hack” occurred two weeks after Fusion GPS was engaged to “find” links between Trump and Russia.
Today, we are going to revisit a lesser discussed piece of Russiagate.
Mikey Dickerson was the head of the Digital Service under Obama, best known for being the guy brought in to fix the Obamacare website.
He was also a contractor for Fusion GPS.
What becomes very interesting is his involvement in a false flag operation code named “Project Birmingham” in the 2017 Alabama Senate elections, where thousands of fake Russian twitter bots were created to craft a narrative that the Republican candidate was influenced or associated with Russia. Involved in the scheme was Daniel Jones’ TDIP organization which has very close ties to Fusion GPS, actually sending the majority of its fundraising to Fusion GPS.
This wasn’t the first time we heard of Russian twitter bots.
In this CNN article discussing the supposed Russian election interference of 2016, they note:
Does that sound like a sophisticated state sponsored influence campaign?
Or does it sound like an extension of a Clinton operation to craft this narrative that supposed to blow up into a massive story against Trump days before the 2016 election?
I have made efforts to find any place to FOIA the Project Birmingham operation of 2017 for clues into what may have happened in 2016. Public reporting dried up on the subject, and it’s unclear where any investigation into the matter stands. It’s unbelievable that this could just be memory holed, but that seems to be what has happened.
Dickerson would also become involved in the Alfa Bank allegations at some undetermined point, assisting the Daniel Jones investigation along with his Layer Aleph colleague Matt Weaver. They are quoted in the 2018 New Yorker article as “Paul” and “Leto.”
Whether Mikey Dickerson was involved with Rodney Joffe and the Alfa Bank matters prior to the Jones investigation is an open question of much intrigue.
One oddity I will share as I wrap this up, Matt Weaver sent a very unusual email to one of the earliest sleuths who was looking at the DNC hack with analysis like this.
In May 2017 Weaver sent a very unusual probing email to Adam Carter, soliciting theories on the hack of the DNC. I’m not sure what that means yet, but keep it in mind as the story continues to develop.
Alright, back to work!
As far as a FOIA path, did you see the Alabama AG said FEC has exclusive jurisdiction to investigate, and so called on that agency to do one? (It’s grating to learn a state can’t investigate its own election, but that’s “national security!!!” for you, I guess.) Also the Alabama secretary of State was reported to have commented his office had seen intruders on their records (maybe DNS? I’m not a cyber person). And they were thwarted.
Also, Evan Coren (name often misspelled many ways) ran a parallel op “Dry Alabama.”. He’s been in the National Archives since Obama. Maybe he and Mikey are buds. (And would naturally know how to hide documentation.)
