Congressman Comer has issued subpoenas for testimony for:
Hillary Clinton
Bill Clinton
Merrick Garland
James Comey
Bill Barr
Alberto Gonzales
Jeff Sessions
Robert Mueller
Loretta Lynch
Eric Holder
We are guardedly optimistic with this, but we’ve been in the trenches too long to not see the limitations.
Comer is going head-hunting with subpoenas that will generate the most press, rather than a fact-finding mission. Where are the subpoenas for the underlings and key players like Rodney Joffe, or Julia Gurganus or Vinh Nguyen?
I think across the political spectrum we can agree that Mueller had a rough hearing 6 years ago. Do we expect his memory to improve this long after the fact? Why not grab someone like Heather Alpino off his team? Will they ask Mueller about the Alfa Bank cyber researchers and/or DARPA’s role in his investigation?
In our opinion, President Trump will have to issue a widespread declassification order to get anything out of Comey. He will seek every avenue to evade questions.
There is an immense risk that the House GOP fails to prepare. They could have very pointed questions for Eric Holder about his time at Covington & Burling and allegations of bribery, or about their representation of General Flynn.
We’ve previously reported that Merrick Garland shut the Durham investigation down, pointedly saying “I must insist that you are done.”
Does he get a question on that? Does our reporting reach Capitol Hill?
Loretta Lynch was in some crucial meetings. If the House GOP prepares, they could lock down specifics of important conversations.
There could be some value here, if the House GOP prepares, but we’d like to see more subpoenas.
Comer should reach out to you for advice on avenues to pursue.
Politicians need to fight the urge to pontificate as if they are filming a commercial.
They need to adopt Trey Gowdy and Jim Jordan’s approach to interrogation.
Thanks. What about Leonard Bernardo and Julianna Smith?
